2021 Race Cascadia Registration Down Low
Anyone who knows us, knows that the Cascadia Dirt Cup in not only Race Cascadia's signature race series, it is the premier enduro mountain bike race series in the Northwest. All other races in the Race Cascadia lineup revolve around the Cascadia Dirt Cup series - they support it, enhance it, and propel it to new destinations. So, when it's time to get the season started, it's the Cascadia Dirt Cup we look to as the indicator that there will indeed be a season, and to get that season going we need to do two things: (1) release the schedule (CHECK!) and (2) open registration (read on!)
REGISTRATION IS OPENING? RIGHT ON! I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG, LET'S DO THIS, TELL ME MORE!
The easy answer: Registration for all events in the 2021 Race Cascadia lineup will open on Saturday, May 1st which is May Day, May Day, May Day!!! (What's the significance of May Day, you ask?) This includes registration for the Cascadia Dirt Cup, the Summer Classic Team Enduro™, the new Youth Enduro Series Northwest, or YES NW! And the Full Tilt at Timberline / Mount Hood, OR.
™ stands for too much! We are definitely cramming too much information into this space, I know you're already exhausted and not even a quarter of the way through this page, this is our upteenth pass in proofing, editing, inserting more... but never omitting, there's just too much happening that we MUST share, and this is sorta by design, it gets the right people to the starting line, so yeah, we get it, we're exhausted too, just do your best to keep up is all we ask and we'll do our best to walk you through it: If you were signed up for the Summer Solstice Team Enduro in 2020 (newly dubbed the Summer Classic Team Enduro, because we can't always get what we want, like hosting a race on solstice weekend....) you will receive a priority pre-registration link good for 24 hours, before registration opens to the general public. See all the commentary below, about how we'll send that to you (email) and which email (the one you used when you signed up a year ago) and what to do if that email is no longer a good one (find the note below, it's too much to insert inside these parentheses....)
The complicated answer: Registration for the Cascadia Dirt Cup each season is already its very own complicated beast. Registration for the 2021 Cascadia Dirt Cup is going to not only not be an exception to the beast factor, it's going to break a few rules. It's going to be messy and complicated, and take some magic to make it happen with minimal upset, so pay close attention, and help us, help you.
WHEN DOES REGISTRATION OPEN FOR THE 2021 CASCADIA DIRT CUP?
The easy answer: May 1, 2021 at 9 am / May Day, May Day, May Day!!!
The complicated answer: April 26 - May 1, 2021
Normally registration opens on January 1, and it really is its own stand-alone kickoff event for the season, with most races selling out in mere hours, some even minutes. But as we know, in our pandemic-changed society, nothing is normal anymore. We were not able to open registration this year on that historical date, due to Covid and lingering uncertainties of if and/or what our race season would be for 2021. As planning has continued and the possibilities have taken shape for the 2021 season, we are finally able to open registration, but not just a regular registration day like season past. Calamity forces extreme measures and the need to turn registration into a full on, week-long event! Read on to hear how it's going to work - if you miss this exhausting part, you may miss out on racing. And c'mon, we've done the hard part for you, formulating our "let's get back to racing" registration plan and committing it to paper, you just need to read it, and then follow through.
HOW DO I GET SIGNED UP?
The easy answer: Registration opens for the 2021 Cascadia Dirt Cup lineup on Saturday, May 1 at 9 am. Be at the ready, at your computer, or mobile device, coffee in hand, fast fingers ready to get your spot(s) secured in the season lineup.
The complicated answer: Racers signed up for a race in 2020, that was cancelled due to the pandemic, will be invited to pre-register for the same race ahead of when that link is made public, for the same exact race venue and location is being held in 2021 (i.e. North Slope Enduro at Capitol Forest in Olympia, Washington). Each racer on the cancelled race roster will receive an email with the pre-registration link to get signed up for that same race as rescheduled for 2021. The emails will go out no later than 24 hours prior to the registration week event. The preregistration process will happen the entire week prior to registration opening up on May 1. Here's the schedule:
The easy answer:
MONDAY APRIL 26, 2021 POST CANYON ENDURO PRE-REG EVENT
TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2021 IT'S COMPLICATED, SEE BELOW*
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28, 2021 NORTH MOUNTAIN ENDURO PRE-REG EVENT
THURSDAY APRIL 29, 2021 YACOLT BURN ENDURO PRE-REG EVENT
FRIDAY APRIL 30, 2021 NORTH SLOPE ENDURO PRE-REG EVENT
**No Pre-Reg event for Tuesday / Day Two of Registration week. This is because Round 2 of the 2021 Cascadia Dirt Cup is Tiger Mountain Enduro, a race that was NOT in the lineup for the 2020 season. Therefore, no 2020 cancellations = no 2021 pre-registrations!
The complicated answer:
Monday, April 26, 2021 is Day One of the week-long registration event, and will be tied to Round One of the 2021 Cascadia Dirt Cup, the Post Canyon Enduro, with a pre-registration window opening for 12 hours only, from 9am - 9pm, just for racers who were signed up for this same exact race in 2020. We will proceed through the week with each day focused on the next round in the season lineup, with the exception of Tuesday.** (**see double asterisk note above this paragraph regarding Tuesday exceptions to this entire convoluted process.)
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T GET THE PRE-REG INVITE EMAIL?
The easy answer: Let's try to prevent that! We're sending out the pre-reg link to the email address used when you signed up for the event in 2020. If your email has changed since then, let us know ASAP, we're not mind readers or that level of guru techie'ness. If you shoot us an email, from your new email, with subject line "Update My Email for CDC Reg Week" we'll get that updated in our system stat!
The complicated answer: We can't be responsible for all of the havoc that will undoubtedly be wreaked in the email netherworlds, we can only try our best. If you don't get an email with your pre-reg invite, you have to let us know BEFORE the pre-reg window closes, which will be 9pm, or 12 hours after it open, starting at 9am. (The emails will go out no later than 24 hours before the Registration Week event!) We will NOT be able to squeeze in any pre-registrations for racers once the window closes, no matter how much we love you. We will be sympathetic and maybe even shed a tear with you, or for you if you're not a crier - we want you there with us too! But due to limited capacity on all fronts, we can't expound this more firmly - be on top of your email (and spam, and promo folder, maybe even the social folder, too?) And get us whitelisted in your settings, all of this, so you don't miss us when we come flying into inboxes hot and heavy across Cascadia.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS ALL THIS, BECAUSE I'M NOT ON TOP OF MY EMAIL, I WAS OUT MOUNTAIN BIKING INSTEAD, DOESN'T THAT COUNT FOR SOMETHING?
The easy answer: We kind of love that, you're our people! We get that, we're busy and miss a lot that comes flying by our radar too while we're busy putting together the best enduro mountain bike race series in the land. But we won't call you, to blame you. You may email, and we may lament together, briefly, then we'll tell you to set your alarms for Saturday, May 1 at 8:45 am, to be ready for the 9am registration window opening next, for everyone, for the remaining spots, across the entire season. We may not be able to answer every email, we'll do our best, but just know we are ROOTING for you!
The complicated answer: We really do want you there with us just as much as you want to be there too. If you want it bad enough, we hope you get in on the first pass, the pre-reg process, so we can prevent this level of upset, vying for the remains spots like vultures fighting for leftovers on the side of the road isn't pleasant for anyone. Setting goals (or alarms), planning ahead (hangovers on registration day are not your friend!), visualizing success (see yourself there, on race day, bombing down the mountain so fast, big smile on your face - good, we see you there too, now go get after it!), following through, or accepting defeat, if you didn't follow through and make it in - these are all the things that will serve you well on race day all the way to the finish line, the very same things that will get you to the actual starting line, too! You're human, and sometimes mistakes happen, you're already forgiven, and we still love you, even if we can't fix it for you. We're human, trying our best to squeeze in all the racers, that love us and what we do. Let's just all do our best, and trust that we'll all get there, eventually, especially if you do the work, and are extra nice to us, when things don't happen when, or as quickly, as you wish.
I'M NOT PLANNING TO RACE THIS SEASON. CAN I GIFT MY PRE-REG ACCESS TO MY CHILD, SPOUSE, BESTIE, NEIGHBOR, MILK MAN?
The easy answer: NO!
The complicated answer: We are relying on the honor system, with stringent cross-checking in force. The link shared via email is specific to a set race (i.e. Post Canyon Enduro) and ONLY to be used by the same exact person who signed up for that same exact race, the Post Canyon Enduro, in 2020. Any racer that attempts to register for an event that they were NOT signed up for in 2020 will be automatically cancelled from the race. We will check the lists each day to make sure pre-registration for 2021 events match the cancellation lists for the same event in 2020, one-for-one. If your schedule does not allow you to register for one of our 2021 races that you were signed up for in 2020, just ignore the link, delete it, let it go. Racers are not allowed to swap links with another person, or share their links with anyone else. This is to ensure a fair process, and preserve as many spots for as many other racers as possible.
STAY POSITIVE AND OPEN
The easy answer: Play fair, spread kindness, believe in yourself, be the good!
The complicated answer: This final piece of advice that never goes wrong, no matter the outcome, stay positive and be proactive. Get your calendar setup with all the alarms and dates double circled. Keep your mind set on racing. It is the best way to manifest a spot, by believing it can happen, doing everything you can to make it happen, and then see what shakes out. We’ll do our best on our side too, wishing and working hard to make good things happen for as many folks as possible, and hopefully for you too. Registration is a stressful time, for all of us. Let's stick together and help each other through this difficult process. We can do hard things, together - especially together.
WAIT, I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS! Seriously?? Well shoot, I guess our work is never done. We're here if you have questions or need help with your registration. Unless we're in the woods away from the wonders of WiFi and cell towers. SHOOT OVER YOUR QUESTIONS, we will always try our best to help you out or get you pointed in the right direction.
